Voice recorder for meetings, lectures or interviews

In this product review we will be discussing the Mansso V88 Digital Voice Recorder. If you’re looking for a low-cost voice recorder for lectures, meetings, or interviews it seems to be a great option. I have been using it now for about two weeks, and its been great for getting ideas out of my head really quickly without having to hassle with my phone and it is less intrusive as holding out or setting a phone on the table during an interview. The sensitivity is pretty good for recording and it can be adjusted but I found the default level works pretty well for most occasions, and you can hear both voices pretty clearly even if your sitting some distance away. Obviously, this wouldn’t be suitable for a recording I would release to the public but it is perfect for listening to something over again for transcripts or written interviews and keeps you free from having to jot notes during the middle of it.

The feature I enjoyed the most was the monitor settings, I really like being able to plug some headphones in and ask some basic questions to people and be able to hear in real time how it will sound so I don’t have to worry about it not picking up their voice. The second features I found the most useful was the file management system. It 4 folders A,B,C, D, and a media storage space that you can switch through to keep recordings separated, so for a organization nut like me it was heaven to keep different projects in different folders. Another thing I liked was the size of it, its about 3.5” x 1” x .3”, so as I mentioned earlier its much less intrusive and bulky than a phone and it blends into the background, but it has a medium brightness red light to let you know it’s recording.

There is some other features that aren’t particularity useful for my case but I think they’re worth mentioning. It has A-B recording feature, which lets you replay a snippet over and over. You would do this by listening to a track, short pressing the menu button to mark where it will start and pressing again to mark where it should end and it will repeat itself. I didn’t end up using this feature because it is easy enough to plug into the computer and listen to the files from there. Some other notable features are password protection, 8GB internal storage with space for micro SD, rechargeable with micro USB with so far a great battery life, and it also has an option for “Record From” which will let you select if you want to record from the device or from an input, but I couldn’t get it to work but it might have been the microphone I was using.

All in all I think this is a great product. The only complaint I would have is the instructions are not very well written or translated and is missing some information, so it took some fiddling around with it to get an understanding of it, but even that only took a couple minutes. If you looking for a consumer friendly voice recorder, with good enough audio and your not expecting too many bells or whistles I would definitely recommend this one.
